Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Calcyet (calcyet.com, "we", "us") collects when you use the site. It explains how that information is used. It also explains your choices. The short version is simple. The numbers you type into our calculators stay in your browser. The site is paid for by ads, and the ads use cookies.

1. Calculator inputs are not stored

Our calculators run entirely in your web browser. The amounts, rates, dates and other values you enter are processed on your device. They are not sent to our servers. They are not saved in a database. They are not shared with anyone. If you reload or close the page, they are gone.

There is one exception to keep in mind. Some pages put example values in the page address (URL). That way a scenario can be bookmarked or shared. Those URLs may show up in standard server and analytics logs, like any other page visit.

2. Information collected automatically

When you visit, our hosting provider gets some technical information automatically. So do the third-party services described below. That's true of most websites. The information includes your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, and the date and time of your visit. We use it to run the site and keep it secure. We also use it to see which pages are useful and to fix problems. We don't ask you to create an account. We don't collect your name, your address or your financial account information.

If you email us, we get your email address and whatever is in your message. We use it only to reply and to fix the issue you report. We don't add you to a mailing list.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. We and our partners use cookies. We also use similar tools, such as local storage and pixels. We use them to:

• Remember your cookie choice. We store your accept or decline choice in your browser's local storage. That way the notice doesn't come back on every page.
• Measure traffic with Google Analytics (see section 5).
• Serve and measure ads with Google AdSense and its partners (see section 4).

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. You can also choose "Decline optional" in our cookie notice. Then we tell Google that analytics storage and ad personalization are denied. Ads are then requested in non-personalized mode. Non-personalized ads may still use cookies. They use them for frequency capping, fraud prevention and aggregate reporting. Blocking all cookies may change how some parts of the site work.

4. Advertising: Google AdSense and third-party vendors

Calcyet is free because it shows ads served by Google AdSense. In connection with those ads:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
• You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings.
• You can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.

Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/ads and policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. We don't control the cookies these vendors set. We don't share your calculator inputs with them. Ads are kept clearly apart from calculator results. We don't endorse the products in the ads.

5. Analytics: Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to see how visitors use the site. For example, which calculators get used most. Or which pages have errors. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect pages visited, approximate location (from your IP address), device and browser. The reports we see are aggregated. They don't identify you personally. You can stop Google Analytics from using your data with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

6. How we share information

We don't sell your personal information for money. We share information only in these cases. We share it with the service providers that host the site. We share it with Google for analytics and advertising, as described above. We share it when the law requires it, or to protect our rights and the security of the site. We may also share it in a merger or sale of the site. In that case this policy still applies to information collected under it.

7. Your California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA, gives you the right to:

• Know what categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect, use and disclose;
• Request deletion of personal information we hold about you;
• Request correction of inaccurate personal information;
• Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising;
• Limit the use of sensitive personal information (we do not knowingly collect any); and
• Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

In the last 12 months we collected two categories of information. One is identifiers, such as IP address and cookie IDs. The other is internet activity, such as pages viewed. Both came from your browser, for the purposes described above. Allowing advertising cookies may count as "sharing" under California law. To opt out, choose "Decline optional" in our cookie notice. You can clear the stored choice to see the notice again. You can also use Google Ads Settings, or turn on a Global Privacy Control signal in your browser. For any other request, email contact@calcyet.com. We will verify your request with the information you give us. We will respond within the time the law requires. You may use an authorized agent to send a request for you.

8. Visitors from the EEA, UK and Switzerland (GDPR)

Calcyet is built for users in the United States. Some visitors come from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland. For those visitors, we process limited technical data based on our legitimate interest in running and securing the site. For non-essential cookies, such as analytics and personalized advertising, we rely on your consent. You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data. You have the right to restrict or object to its processing. You have the right to data portability. You have the right to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to file a complaint with your local data protection authority. To use these rights, contact us at contact@calcyet.com. Information may be processed in the United States, by us and by Google.

9. Children's privacy (COPPA)

Calcyet is not directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Do you think a child gave us personal information? Contact us at contact@calcyet.com. We will delete it.

10. Data retention and security

We keep your emails only as long as we need to reply and to keep a record of corrections. Google keeps analytics and advertising data under its own retention settings and policies. The site is served over HTTPS. No way of sending data over the Internet is completely secure. But calculator inputs never leave your browser. So there is very little personal information for us to protect in the first place.

11. Links to other sites

Our pages link to official sources, such as the IRS and state agencies. Ads may link to advertisers. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other websites. Please read their policies.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our practices change or the law changes. We will post the new version on this page. We will change the effective date above. Material changes will be highlighted on this page.
