Count the calendar days, weeks and business days between any two dates. Business days skip Saturdays and Sundays. They can also skip observed U.S. federal holidays.

How the count works
The number of days between two dates is the later date minus the earlier date. By default the start date counts. The end date does not. That is how you count nights in a hotel stay. Tick "Include the end date" to count both. Use that for the length of an event or a leave period.
Worked example: January 1 to December 25, 2026
- Calendar days: December 25 is day 359 of 2026 and January 1 is day 1, so 359 − 1 = 358 days (51 weeks and 1 day).
- Weekdays (Monday–Friday) in that range: 256.
- Minus observed federal holidays on weekdays in the range: 10. That runs from New Year's Day through Thanksgiving. Independence Day is observed Friday, July 3.
- Business days: 246. That is 112 fewer than the calendar count. Not a small gap.

Frequently asked questions
Does the calculator include the start and end dates?
It counts the start date but not the end date. So Monday to Friday of the same week is 4 days. Check "Include the end date" to count both ends. Then it is 5 days.
What counts as a business day?
Monday through Friday, minus the 11 U.S. federal holidays on their observed days. State holidays, bank closures and company holidays are not removed.
How many business days are there in 2026?
There are 250 business days in 2026. That is after removing weekends and observed federal holidays. 2026 has 261 weekdays in all.
How do I count days for a legal or tax deadline?
Deadlines have their own rules. For federal tax filings, a deadline on a weekend or legal holiday moves to the next business day (26 U.S.C. 7503). Court and contract deadlines vary. Confirm the rule that applies to yours.
